Show me your painted anglers please.

Considering adding a tiny red painted angler or yellow painted angler to my nano.
I'm a bit concerned that the photos from the seller are photoshopped and would like to see some actual specimens from other hobbyist's tanks.
Also, if you have a tiny angler, say 2" or so, do you worry about your other fish, ie clowns, damsels, grammas ect..?
Just curious.
Thanks

I had a black angler that i just got rid of which im regretting now, he ate cleaner shrimp, purple reef lobster, 2 gold stripe maroon clowns, and a coral beauty, so in other words yes there should always be concern

Theres a vid on youtube of a 6"ish angler eating a sailfin tang slightly bigger than the angler. Is this for your 24"x24"x10"(i think) nano? Im also looking into an angler for a future nano and would love to see pics.

Sounds like even a 2" angler will quickly dessimate my baby clownfish colony and damsel population. Too bad, they are such cool looking little guys but with big mouths and appetites apparently. Funny, LiveAquaria lists them as 'reef safe' and 'peaceful'.

I'll have to check out that video. Yes, I was considering one for the 24"x24"x12". I would love to have a little bright red angler in there, but not if he will eat all my baby clowns and damsels.
Thanks for the replies!

Good decision. They really are a best left to species only tanks. Especially since all the of the fish you listed would be easy prey for any angler.

Also, for what it's worth I personally don't think anglers would add anything to a community style reef tank. I have both angler-only tanks and a reef, and you'd probably end up happier (and without the associated risks to your livestock) by just adding a cryptic fish that you only see every so often instead.

You could put a redfin wasp fish in your tank, they have small mouths so id assume they are ok with 3-4" fish. Maybe baby fish wouldnt be same but I think the larger ones would be ok.
