Show me your setosa montipora

image.jpg Here you go

It plates and it will encrust, not much upward growth. Beautiful coral though, glows under Actinics. Not sure why my pic is so small...

here is mine a couple months ago. It is not a fast grower but it is growing steady for 1 year and a half. It is under radion G1 in the third down of the tank.

Looking really good. How do you frag these?

Occasionally, it produces tiny off shoots as shown below. I snap them and let them grow.

The two frags, which were about 10 mm long each when I snapped them from the main colony about six months ago, grew in a fairly sphere shape of up to 20 mm cube.

Nope, they don't really grow upwards..

Sure they do. They're like all SPS. Form and growth rate is determined by the flow and light you give them. Contrary to popular belief they'll grow well under high amounts of both.

Look at the morphs above, many different shapes and colors.

+ 1

I kept mine under 250 mmol for two years and got really good growth. Since the beginning of last month, it has been under 350 mmol PAR. At one point it was under 440 mmol for a short while and did not show any sign of stress.

Will the color change in higher par?

Here is mine when it was a frag a number of years ago.

This is under actintics

This is with the halides on but a blurry shot, taken a number of days later. I love the color 10ks give corals :)

This coral grew fairly quick for me and would grow anywhere in the tank. I had to get rid of it once it got bigger than 12". It finally got big enough where it lost hold of my overflow and fell down. I like the look of it under white light and high par because it turns a nice orange that's hard to find in sps corals.

I kept it in the center after it fell until it filled the space in the middle of the tank.
