I will be building a 60 cube into the wall and I need some inspiration, ideas. Please show me how you did yours and the finished look.
Thanks

Mine is a "bit" bigger than a 60G and drywalled in. It's setup as a peninsula with access to the top and bottom from the office side of the tank. I used regular doors cut down to size and door frames for the access points. All the drywall edges are bull nosed. We also used sound proofing drywall as well as sound proofing insulation to aid in reducing any potential noise from the tank.

I don't really have any good recent photos showing the drywall but here is a recent full tank shot showing 2 of the 3 sides.

This is a shot from 1997 when I first built it in after buying my home. It's seen many changes since then but the drywall is still the same. It also gives some perspective on how it's built it.

Wow that looks amazing. Ever wonder about resale of the house if it would be a plus or a hindrance? If I was a buyer, I would be sold lol.

It depends on the house..... I had a waterfront home with a built in 230 gallon cube (48x44x44) It helped sell that house, but was a PITA to clean and service. The people who bought the house have now removed the tank. It lasted for 6 months with them.

This is the only pic I could find at the moment

slief, i officially hate you now. gorgeous tank and planning

LOL.. Thanks! The build and the changes since 1997 are pretty well documented in my build thread here.

I am certainly one for planning. That tank and all it's livestock was moved from my previous house. I closed escrow on a Friday and within an hour of escrow closing we were already cutting into the walls to build the framing to support the tank. I broke the tank down that Sunday at my old home. It was picked up Monday by the original manufacturer who polished the scratches out and delivered to my new home the next day at which point it was put into place and plumbed immediately.

In the mean time, all the live stock and live rock which I transported in a uhaul, sat in kitty pools in the garage for the 2 days until we were ready to put it in. It was an amazing install that went without a single hitch. Within 4 days of escrow closing, the tank was plumbed and up and running with all livestock transferred and not a single casualty. We even ran 3 separate lines of 1" flex PVC 18" underground around the perimeter of the house for the chiller which was setup in the garage. Without careful planning, this never would have happened the way it did.
