I've always noticed that Yellow Tangs are constantly showing of their lateral line. Is there any other tang that does this?

When i see this i highly think that its not the lateral line i think its just something on there body that they show. Guys has anybody had any experience with FW dips. Can you tell me how to do them i no nothing about them.

FW dips - Get a bucket full of 0 TDS RO/DI get it up to temp of the reef tank and then put the fish in there for around 15 mins. Then take the fish out and this should make some of the parasites drop off the fish. Well thats what ive always done.

0k thanks what if i dont have RO/DI water to put in there. Can i use tap water that has been sitting for about a week or is that a bad idea.

Bad idea i wouldnt use tap water for anything to do with reef fish etc. What water do you have in your reef then?

i usually have water sitting for like 2 weeks a little behind though. I will eventually invest in a RO/DI system.

Yellow tangs don't seem to grow too fast in general compared to other tangs. There are tons of factors that come into play on growth though, so it's rather impossible to say how long yours would last in a 45g.

Here's my trio, though.

155g
2 yellows and 1 purple
I've had the purple for 3 years, and I've had the yellows for 6 months.
Purple is about 4", small yellow is about 2.5", and the big yellow is about 6".
