Here's a much cleaner photo under the ati bulbs.

Since the new bulbs and dosing calcium and mag they seem to really pop!

How do you like those light fixtures?
Are they the inexpensive ones from ebay?

Grandis.
actually its a unit i built that is similar to the reefbreeders unit. i like how it shows off the colors of the zoas but as far as growth, them coloring up and polyp size i would prefer a T5 any day. seems some do great and others struggle to open no matter where they are moved in the tank. when testing out T5's everything seems more open and happy.

Thanks for the reply!
I've got an inexpensive LED fixture from ebay to try LEDs for the first time.
That's why I'm asking.

Here is the thread:

Are you keeping ZOANTHIDS under Chinese LED fixtures?

ah yes i remember voicing my input on page's 2-3. i have used the 120w unit off ebay before and IMO the negative stuff about it is just people hating on the unit. there is nothing wrong with these units at all. they supply positive feedback from the coral and can generate growth. what more can you ask for in a lighting system? of course myself included most likely are failing on the performance vs a T5 and MH due to incorrect par on the zoas and balance along with placement causing it to not stand up in performance. zoas seem to be more sensitive under leds and once we find a output/dimness/par and placement for them i believe they will outdo the T5's. as i continue to play with leds i plan to check out some different colors available. right now im getting great growth with the warm whites. i use 4 on the outer edges.

just voicing my opinion. :spin3:

Sorry I didn't notice your input there!
Yep, That's what I hear... After the zoas get used to the LEDs they do great!
Thanks!

will get better pics with a camera instead of my phone this weekend.

wow looking at them again those pics are very blurry, will def get better ones soon.

will try that tomorrow, ill put it in feed mode and see if I can get a bit better, I also need to shrink them, I don't think phone cameras were meant to enlarge like that.

I wouldn't do feed mode. If you turn off will be the best. No shake.
Yeah, small pics will be sharper also.
