Been using Reef Crystals on your reef tank for a while. Then show if off. I have been using it for a while now and want to other peoples tanks that use it. Please also include what you dose to the tank like carbon, Zeovit ect.

here is my 55g using RC salt for almost two years, doising two part, and runiing GFO and carbon, works just fine for me, sorry for crapy pics.

Here are a few pics of my tank it's 8 months old. I have used RC salt for the last 10 years ever sence I got into corals. And just to show you that RC salt is a excelent choice the first pic is from right after set-up so you can see how much stuff has grown in 8 months.

man, that's a lot of growth in 8 mos, I'm sure you have done something else right besides the RC.

Buy baff, no disrespect but how could you be using RC for 10 years? It only came out a few years ago. Nice tank by the way.

I bought 6 bags of Reef Crystals to give it an honest try....I am going back to red sea coral pro, I had better colors and less issues with this salt (red sea). Works for some..but I liked tropic marin and Red Sea a lot better

It's been around a long time friend.

As far as doseing I was doing BRS 2 part for the first 6 months then switched to a ca reactor. I would say growth has been the same with eather. I run WM ecobak bio pellets. And top off with kalk via ATO.

I think the bio pellets have been the key. Because of them I have been able to over stock the tank with fish and feed them alot with causing excess nutrents. Then all the fish poo feeds my corals. I don't feed anything but fish poo.

thats beautifull looking tank, hope my tank looks like yours some day

Has it really been that long. I remember when it was released, everyone was excited about the new salt from IO. I am on my 4th bucket of RC so about 2 years on only RC. Here is my tank. Still working on getting that color but little changes at a time. And I am trying to keep thing very stable.

What kind of lighting are you using? Sunpod? Phoenix 150w?

Here is our sps tank at the aquarium, we have been using RC for the last 3 years and we only dose kalk to compensate for evaporation, there is a calcium reactor that we use to keep alk/cal levels constant.

Here's my RC tank. This tank has never had any other salt mix. Just recently i did a real SW change of 5% just to see if anything changed but had to leave town for business and will not see any change until i get back in 9 days. The video is the latest pics i have which is about 2 months old.

when i get energetic i will rescape the right island.

I dose vodka no more than 2 times a week when i remember, which is sporatic. Normally when i take a real close look at the tank and if i feel it needs it, it'll get regular dosing, then i back or stop off when i think the tank looks good.

i see some of you are using ecobak pellets or vodka dosing. just wondering what you keep your alk at. i know reef crystals has a high alk around 11-13 dkh.

Actually, you need to check your Reef Crystals parameters again. I just posted about this last week in the Chemistry Forum regarding the alkalinity. I asked if anyone else was getting a reading of 8 on alkalinity from their RC batches. I bought 2 buckets at one location and another at a location 100 or so miles from my house. Both were identical with the following parameters:

Ca 440
Mg 1350
Alk 8 dKH

Upon receiving some responses, Boomer responded saying that the formulation for RC has been changed. They never announced it....he pulled it out of a rep for the company. It seems to fall in line with what I've been noticing. So, if you're a vodka doser, rest assured that this salt won't cause burnt tips from higher alkalinity readings.

It seems they were listening to hobbyists' requests without wanting to admit it.:bounce3:

RC dosen't have a high alk anymore they changed it. It's around 8 to 9 DKH now. I keep mine at 8DKH.

My lighting is a single 250w Phoenix 14k on an Icecap ballast in a Reef Optics 3 pentant. I think I will go back to a 20k maybe XM, got better color with a 20k.
My RC water tests at 500 ca 13 alk dont have a mag kit but I understand that the mag is very good. Around 1350. Mt test test at around 400-440 ca 9-10 alk. I am dosing kalk in my ATO to keep the levels from dropping. I loose 20ppm ca and 1 dkh a day from sps growth still even with 2 tsp kalk per 5 gallons, need tp dump up the kalk.
