Show your acropora valida (brown, purple)

Not sure if this is valida.

One of my favs.

interesting how some valida will have purple tips and some develop blue. I have two of these and both have blue tips under (2)14k AC/(2)12k Reeflux bulb setup mid level in tank.

I have 2 pieces I bought as valida. One I got as a cheap frag 2 or more years ago has green base purple tips with almost a cream accent on tips. The second I just got a frag recently. More solid purple with bright green polyps. I assume they are both valida as this is what they were named in store. I would like to find the really light skin with blue tips coloration.

Sorry to derail but I have a tricolor that split. I have a completely encrusted plug with some nubs and then a stalk with multiple branches. They're in tow different locations of the tank. The plug is up higher by about 5 inches but it's now solid green. The other is purple with green tips. Any ideas?

In all its creamy browny glory...

It's near the bottom of a biocube under Steve's LED ultimate SPS retro at 55%. Flow is moderate.

I just got one of these a month ago and it's growing but seems to have retracted polyps and is losing color.

I'm running ultra low nutrients and bare bottom with a good amount of flow and 250w halide with t5. I haven't seen any pests as far as I can tell.

Any suggestions to get better polyp extension? The whole reason i got it was because of the great contrast of purple and yellow.

When you say ultra low nutrient, you mean undetectable phos/nitrate? Are you feeding very heavily to compensate for the nutrient deficient water?

I really should be feeding more but yeah I try to keep it two a couple times a day. Should I broadcast feed as well?

Any so I find a problem, a powerhead had a nicked cable and I had 120v in my tank. Polyp extension is coming back slowly and everything else got better quickly.
