that's a nice long tentacle plate! They're super tough to keep alive though, unfortunately. I've seen some really nice purple and blue short tentacle plates lately.

Here it is in all its glory, but I'll get a better pic tomorrow. The color has gotten better and has started to fill in since I first got it. There are streaks of green and orange also starting to appear as well.

Here is what it looked like in '07 when it was first imported, it is working its way back to looking like this:

I've got a dead plate coral that is sprouting babies all of the sudden that I will try to get photos of tonight. It's been dead for about a year and a half now.

Got this one a cpl weeks ago...I am amazed how large they can swell up...our 2 1/2 yr old daughter asked me if it would 'Pop, pop dad-EE?" lol

I've often heard of that happening. It seems to be quite common actually although I havent experienced it myself. I'd definitely like to see some pictures!

It's partly why I kept the skeleton around was because I knew that they could regenerate out of no where like this.

I originally thought that they were a mini carpet anemone that had floated off and attached there. There had actually been two of them, but the one spent the last week or so detaching itself, which is when I saw that they weren't mini carpets since it had a skeleton underneath.

You can see the leftover skeleton in front of the remaining one. I assume I'll probably find a random plate growing in the back of my tank eventually.

These were taken under my actinics only, so please excuse the bad quality.

I honestly don't know. The parent coral was very bleached out, but I could tell it had been a beauty at one time from the colour that was left on it. I got it for $5, so I figured it was worth a chance of trying to save it.

The bleached parent was light pink with purple rims aroudn the outside and mouth.

That baby looks awesome. My baby up there is now the size of a quarter and I bought it off ebay (hellloooo that is where the pic is from :) ). It looks sweet to me because it is sparkley! I'm a sucker for sparkles.
