Maybe I missed something, but Dactyloptena orientalis looks nothing like that pic. All the info I can find on it suggests it is a flying gurnard.

Also why has this thread gotten so slow? Lets keep it going.

I was just kidding here. I stumbled across the photo Tim used, on a Japanese site, which had the fish misidentified as a Flying Gurnard. I am pretty confident it is Erosa erosa.

Either way let's get this back on track. Here's a new one.

Yeah - I'm pretty sure its a Labrid as well, but it could be a Scarus for all the crop shows. I'm thinking though, that the white spots might be Cryptocaryon - so it didn't come from Joe's tanks!

I'll guess a young male Cirrhilabrus punctatus, poised above a green Montipora capricornis, at a slight upward angle, with its gills flared and a devilish glint in its eye....

Seriously, more power to y'all - I'd never get this one, even using all books, Fishbase, Japanese web sites, etc.
