After looking the head over its more obvious, should have known the first time.

Yea the weird angle was a good shot but I could just see that little bit of the black spot by the yellow.

not at all, just that I seem to be incapable of taking/cropping/posting pictures properly. New Year's res #1 to learn how. I'll tag along and make guesses, but don't expect me to post images. I tried, sorry, everyone has their weaknesses. :)
 
not Myripristis? I could have sworn it was a bigeye or a soldierfish. how about another hint?

Probably one of the catalufas. Either, Priacanthus, Pristigenys, or Rhomboplites. Thinking the first fish one I mentioned. T
 
nope, not either of those. it does have big eyes, lives in temperate environments - this particular one is from Australia. its pretty similar to some biolumenescent fish
