Shredded anemone

Hey any help appreciated

Yesterday I bought a new clown fish and anemone white tip torch

Today I came through and it looks like it has gone through the power head and tank is really cloudy!

I did a water change straight away and parameters seem to be ok although ammonia is a bit up.

I really don't want to lose my fish or corals :,(

You need to use Prime or something similar to get the ammonia under control. Also run carbon and do a few large back to back WC's. How much water did you change?

I did a 20% water change and the water is slightly less cloudy.

How do you run carbon? Do you just put it in a sock and drop it in the tank?

I'm new to this and gutted this has happened :(

Cheers
Tony

Yes running carbon is that easy. Just drop it where it gets good flow in your sump. If you don't have a sump a HOB filter works too.

There isn't all that much to an anemone (unless it's really large) so in a mature tank, ammonia is less of a concern than free floating nematocysts. Many folks that have pureed an anemone report loss of all fish except clowns, due to the nematocysts. Same Rx though - lots of water changes.

I did another 20% water change and ammonia seems to have settled down for the time being but I still see little bits of anemone that are tough to get. I read about people losing all there fish and corals and having to start from scratch! Really don't want that to happen to me. I had bio pellets so have put them in the tank not sure if they work quite the same as carbon?

Cheers
Tony
