came downstairs today to find my banded coral shrimp eating my male perc!! He was fine this morning, I dont think he was ill. I cant believe the shrimp caught him, they have been together for over a year and he was a regular spawner!! Got some garlic butter waiting for that shrimpwhen i get him out!

I find it difficult to believe that a healthy fish would get killed by a CBS, there is probably is another cause of death, and the CBS was eating the carcass.

I do not find it hard to believe at all...

A have a huge CBS in with a pair of akins, the male is pretty small and has been grabbed by the CBS a few times. The male has only been in "trouble" once and his mate came to the rescue and beat the #$%^ out of the CBS releaving it of one of it's offending "arms".

The problem comes in that clownfish have an natural response to being grabbed by the fins of going still. As this is a natural dominance/submission response. So if the CBS gets a hold of a pec fin and small male might "freeze up" in submission and then the CBS can go work. I doubt you would see this with a female.

Get some meat (shrimp would be ironic) and lure him/her out then place a clear specimen container behind him/her and "scare" it. It will flip it's tale and wham into the container and quick lift and there you go.

I wouldnt mess with him unless you caught him in the act. He was likely eating him after he died. I watched some hermits eat the eyes and intestins of a yellow tang in my cousins tank after he died.

no, the clown was healthy, besides the shrimp is already out and lucky he didnt make it to my dinner plate.
