Shrimp Compatibility

Hey hey!

I have in my 520L tank now:
2x Skunk Cleaner Shrimps
2x CBS (Mated Pair)

I am wanting to add a pair of Peppermint Shrimps for the short-term until I can move them into a breeding tank. Pep Shrimps are not on the NZL import list. So they are EXTREMELY rare, can't turn down a pair when they are offered! (as they maybe the only pair in the country!)

My concern is that my CBS pair will kill the Pep shrimps. Mine are VERY docile at present and are no threat to my skunk cleaners who live right beside them. But my single CBS male (In RSM) can be very mean if anything strays too close to his cave.

Will my CBS pair become aggressive on the introduction of the Pep Shrimps?

You actually don't need to buy a "pair", you can just get any random two peppermint shrimp, and they will change sexes and have babies.

Your right about the Coral Banded shrimps killing the peps. They are very aggresive towards anything thats near them and tend to try to kill any shrimp (including skunk cleaners) But if you have a large tank (I'd say 30 gallons) or larger, they should be fine, like with my peppermint pair. They can get away quickly, they are fine with my coral banded shrimp in my 46 gallon. You will probably see some aggresion between the cbs, trying to catch them and eat them, but they are never able to catch the pepermints.

Ahh yea, by Pair of Peps I mean 2 They are herm same as much Skunk Cleaners. My CBS show no aggression towards my Cleaners. And will often move outta the way if the Cleaners head towards them.

Think I will buy a 30G this week for the Peps to go into

I wouldn't worry about the CBS bothering the pes, but if you feel it will, go for it, another tank would be nice.
