that's cool, though with all the "treadmill" videos on the internet, I was expecting the treadmill to stop and the shrimp to slam into the wall.

Looks pretty real to me, but since I did not see it in real life I can't say for sure.

Yep, it's real. They're studying the shrimp's metabolism. Putting animals on treadmill, in windtunnels, flow tanks, etc. is how you get an idea of how much energy they use when they're active.
