Shrimp method

I think I'm am going to put a shrimp in my tank to start my cycle if I do, do I wait until ammonia reaches 2.0 ppm and then remove it and ghost feed? Could I add a bottle of Bacteria once it reaches 2.0 ppm to speed it up?

A little more detail would be helpful. Like tank size, filtration, etc.

I have a 125 I recently cycled with a large shrimp and just left it there until it was gone. Smaller tank, less shrimp. Many will tell you patience is better than trying to speed things up with bottled solutions. There seems to be a bottle for every problem today, when good water management practices actually are the best long-term solution. Patience my friend.
