shrimp shell in an hour?

My tank has just cycled, it's a 46bowfront with 30lbs of live rock (...I know, I'm getting more later.)

Today I threw in 2 peppermint shrimp and 5 turbo snails. After about an hour I came back to the tank and a shrimp shell: head, tail, and antenna; was floating around on the sand. I saw one of the shrimp but I didn't feel like picking out all the rock to look for the other guy. Do I have a deadly hitchhiker somewhere or do stressed shrimp just instantly shed themselves??

Very very wierd.

It is common for shrimp to molt when you move them from tank to tank. Or LFS to tank. Your shrimp is probably in hiding and waiting for its shell to harden. It will come out.
