Shrimps with a longnose hawk

Hi,

I want to add a cleaner shrimp or 2 to my 90 which is currently housing a smallish longnose hawkfish. It's my understanding that shrimps do not do so well with this fish unless they are of a big size.

You guys have any reccomendations here? Is there a rule of thumb or anything? Is it a bad idea?

Thanks!

i had a longnose with 2 shrimp for a long time... he never bothered either of them. imo, longnose are less likely to be a threat to shrimp (and other fish) than the other hawks. i'd say just get the largest cleaners you can, just to be safe.

IME, longnose hawkfish are almost just as likely to eat shrimp as other relatively smaller hawkfish. The best that I have seen (though they still may eat shrimp) is Cyprinocirrhites polyactis, the lyretail (or swallowtail) hawkfish.
