Shrinking RBTA

hello.

I bought 2 RBTA from a fellow reefer 2 weeks ago. Ever since then, I notice that they seem to diminish in size, from day to day. They fully extend and the mount looks like it's in good shape.

I had 1 -175 w MH 10K on it.....but recently, have changed to 2 175w MH 10's......

I'm wondering, perhaps 1 175 w MH isn't enough?

I'm not sure why they're shrinking in size. Any thoughts?

I've had the tank running for 7 months now.

Im not sure what you mean. are they getting smaller and smaller and never getting bigger? (shortening tenicles etc)

I would say you need to feed them if thats the case. (a piece of silverslide every third day works well)

If they are just constantly changing shape.. your ok. Mine looks different every day. today its HUGE and has most of its body on the left of the tank. yesterday it was all bubbled up and looked like a heart

They also expel theyre waste... so they will shrink up to a tiny lil thing, until theres no water left in theyre bodys and they'll spit out brown gunk, then they'll re inflate. takes an hour or more for mine

Did you say you added another light after you got the bta's? Or possibly you you have different light than your fellow reefer?

If this is the case, then they need to acclimate to the new light, and that may be why they are shrinking.

I made the mistake of changing to a much more intense MH bulb 1 week after I got a bta, it really seemed to bother the anemone a bit and it kind of shrunk/hid for something like 2 weeks, it did become quite happy.

I think TOURKID took special care to avoid this reaction when she added a 250w MH to her tank.
