Shriveled up Stichodactyla haddoni

Just arrived home only to see that my haddoni has shriveled in to a small ball. My breeding pair of clarkii clowns been digging the DSB around the nem like mad and keep tying to pinch the nem time to time!!! Nem and pair of clowns been together since the day one around four years now, when left this morning nem was looking quite healthy and about 75% open and now looks very unhappy. Never seen him like this before!!!!

Any thoughts...?

Tank params done about an hour ago and everything is spot on except PO4 gone up by a very little margin.

Last night fed him with lance fish which he loves all the time. I know when he does the pooh he shriveles up a bit but not this much.

I suspect that he is shriveled up because of what he ate he has indigestion. Is I feed my anemones something that doesn't sit well they shrivel up for a day or two.

On my Riteri I finally got to where I just fed him mysis shrimp was the safest food choice. Your carrot will probably recover just give it time.

Assuming your parameters are normal (( the numbers would be nice )), and nothing else is off with your tank it could be nothing. Haddonis have the ability to completely disappear into the sandbed, it usually is a defense mechanism when something irritates it. Also can be a means of doing a complete internal water change. The fact that you just fed it a silverside (( lancefish )) makes me think it could be that, myself (( and a few others )) no longer use those because of issues -- I lost an anemone to using one.

To show how much they can retract, this is my green one -- I accidentally touched it while working on the tank.

Thanks everyone for your replies, I always fed him with lance but I guess I will change to something else if that's the case!! On the positive side, thank God he has come back . Not fully open due to main lights being off after full day cycle. My royal blues are ON and nem looks much more vibrant in colour than normal, very strange. Thank you once again.... Keep you posted if anything changes.

This is how he normally looks
