Shrivelling / dissapearing shrooms

Not too sure what's going on...my green colony was growing perfectly and now they are shrivelling over the past week or so. Another colony of blues are doing the same thing now.

Tank specs are:

Salinity: 1.025
NO3: 0
PO4: 0
Temp: 80
Alk: 7-8dKh
Ca: 480

Tunze Wavemaker, Koralia 1400 and 750, 592gph return pump (unsure of name) all in a 90 gallon tank and a 30gal sump.

Nothing has been changed and they are not near any other coral.

I've attached pics.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Louis

My experience has been that too much lighting or water flow does that to my shrooms. Did you change the bulbs recently? Did you change a pump recently? Anyway, I would try to put them in a lesser flow area and/or move them lower (away from the light) to see if they respond positively.

i agree with rudolph mate same thing happened to some of mine after i changed the flow in tank

agreed with lighting and flow.

Not 100% sure, but looks to be a hairy shroom sitting next to the badly shriveled blue shroom, in one of the pic's. I think it is stinging the blue discoma slightly, might want to look into relocating him.

what lighting are you using?

Your alk is also a shade low. 8.3-9.3 is a little better. alk/cal/mg need to be in balance to hold that reading steady. Sample is in my sig line. IME a lot of softies are reactive to low alk.

Thanks for the info guys.

My lighting is 6 ho t5s. 3 10k and 3 actinics in the following config;:

2 x actinics in front of tank
1 actinic and 1 10k in middle
2 x 10k in back

Sequence is front to back in morning (9am-10am-noon) and back to front off at night (6pm-7pm-9pm) to simulate sun up/down.

Flow did not change but the location of the greens did. I'll put them back in lower flow.

As for the stinging, how can
I safely remove and relocate?

Thanks again. I'll keep updating as i go.

Louis

It would probably be easier to relocate the discoma, but harder and better imo to isolate the hairy shroom, or at least put it on a small movable rock that you can easily trim every once and a while, outside the tank.

A sharp small paring knife or razorblade, should work, you want to get under the shroom and try not to cut into it too much or tear it.

If you find you are doing too much damage, then allowing it to heal for 3 day's before continuing would help.

Cool thanks I'll try that. As for the lighting, should I place them back in alternating actinic/10k manner or is the way I have them ok? I forget where I was reading it but it seems that having them the way I have them is supposed to allow for better photosynthesis. Not sure if this holds true or not and it may be that the front of the tank does not get enough 10k light.

Let me know.

Thanks again.
