shroom problem

ever since I moved my tank my mushrooms have been pretty shriveled up and they got "white curlicues" coming out. I've even got new mushrooms and they do the same thing after they're in my tank for a day or 2. could someone please help me! I just want them to keep spreading!

Have you tested your water yet? What are your parameters?

What about lighting? How direct of lighting are they receiving?

Any other inhabitants affected or looking to be in bad condition?

last time i tested the water everything was perfect. i havent tested it that lately so i'll get on that today. It's been like 3 weeks since i moved from orlando to fort lauderdale. I upgraded from vho's to t5's. I believe thats what killed my frogspawn, candycane, hammer, orange and green cap, and micromythelma. i just bought a new frogspawn though and it shrunk down too. my alkalinity was tested last tuesday and that was at 10.? didn't test calcium. im running phosphate remover right now hoping thats what it is. everything else seems pretty happy except the frogspawn and mushrooms. ricordia's are all doing fine! i've got all the mushrooms in the bottom of my tank and some in caves and they're still doing it. hmmm
lemme test the water

ok...
nitrates 0
nitrites 0
ammonia 0
ph right around 8.3
phosphates 0
salinity 1.025 so im a little high there

Hmm, well all of those parameters definitely look good. Maybe its something bacterial related? Some sort of parasite?

Post some pics if you get a chance, then maybe someone with more experience than I can ID whatever it is. "Curlicues" to me sound like some sort of worms/bacteria but thats just a guess...

i tried to get pictures before but the 2 digital camera's my family has can't get focused enough on such a small little object. its probably my fault not the cameras...I gotta see if I could get either my neighbor or uncle to bring over their camera's. they've both got the big gun camera's.

but it literally just looks like the intestines of the mushroom are coming out in little white curlicues. i dunno how else to describe it

my fuzzy mushrooms do this every so often, usually after i brush against them though. actually they were all looking like that earlier this week and they looked like donuts, then came back. not sure wha it is though!

Tell us more about your lighting.... T5s are very intense, and if too close to the water, and corals too close to the light, that could very well be the reason. I have had to move some sps to the bottom of my tank do to this. Do they have ind. reflectors? What test kits are you using to test the water? Good luck....

alright...the lights are 4 t'5's w/ individual reflectors ran off a icecap 660. theyre about a good 12-16 inches off the surface of the water. the mushrooms are located on the bottom of the tank...its a 75 so 18 inches i believe right? minus like 4-5 for sand.

the test kit im using is from big als...aquarium pharmacuticals saltwater master liquid test kit. and then the phosphate is instand ocean. salinity is a hydrometer made by red seaall the corals were dipped in tropic marin pro coral cure before being put into this tank...3-4 weeks ago. but since then have bought some other corals to replaced the ones that died. new corals include some paly's which are doing awesome...superman mushroom which has white curliques coming out. green metallic mushrooms which are starting to shrivel up. and then my old corals that are doing bad are 2 purple mushrooms(lookin a lot better)...5 red mushrooms (won't open) big green mushroom(won't open) and a green metallic mushroom(won't open)
also my leather was doing awesome...better than it's ever done...and now starting yesterday got very limp and turned upside down.
everything else looks good...zoos are spreading all over the place...pulsing xenia is pulsing...anemone is doing awesome(never has bubble tipped untill being in this tank)

it baffles me!!!

p.s. all the fish are acting extremely normal. didn't lose a fish at all.

Based on the info, I doubt it is the light. I have tek t5s 6x54 over my 75, 6" from the water. Are you running carbon by chance. You may want to, just to help remove anything chemically that may be in the water which is not being tested. Just a thought. Maybe a considerable water change as well. Good luck....

yea im running carbon...its been in there about a week. maybe i should change it?

and then yea i'm guessing to do like a 30 gallon water change or something somewhat bigger than 25%

How's your flow over the mushrooms in question and do you know what kind they are? The more plain discosoma types?

And yeah my hairy mushroom pukes if i move it at all or move the water near it but it quickly brings its fillaments back in after im done disturbing it (it hates when i mag float the glass near it hehe)

the lights can't go up any more...they're in a canopy that already has like 12-18 inches above the water surface...but the thing that confuses me is that i have some shrooms under a rock ledge(in the shade) that are all shrivelled up...I gotta do a huge waterchange and see what happens.

I really don't think its a lighting issue. Sounds like something in your water, whether it be a bacterial thing or a chemical agitating the shrroms...
