Shroom Removal???

as the title says I have some shrooms I would like to remove completely from the rock any suggestions????

Since shrooms are basically anemones & I've been removing anemones (aptasia & tulip) by injecting them w/lemon juice, I don't see why that wouldn't work. What color are they? If there was any intrest in folks buying them, you could chip them off the rock to sell.

you could use a razor blade and cut them off. they may regrow is no cut really close to the rock. I have tried it and it worked. just a thought

-chip them off
-inject them with a chemical...kalk, joes juice, etc...just be sure to run carbon
-sell the entire piece of rock they are on


i've had racoon butterflies go after shrooms...but more fish dont care for the taste of them...

I am not trying to hijack a thread I just thought this was appropriate. I got a really cool shroom from a buddy on here and it got lost in the tank I just found the little guy on the back of one of my rocks. Not easy to get to but I want to move the little guy to an area where I can see him. Any thoughts?

The only thing you can do is take the rock out & chisel off the shroom w/a bit of rock attached. Then Superglue it wherever you want. Kinda hard to do w/the rock in the water.

Well that will not work due to the fact that the rock is at the bottom of the rockwork. I would have to pull all the rock apart to do that. Not for one shroom I am not. LOL

The only thing I can say then, is to hope it will get tired of being in the dark & move on it's own. You wouldn't believe how many mushrooms I found behind my rockwork when I upgraded 2 weeks ago.

I dont want to kill them just get them off the rock with out taking my tank apart

whiirly, Cut the mushroom off the rock. Then apply a thick paste of kalk or joes juice to the remaining flesh. This meathod works for me. I would suggest however that you do this outside of your display.

squibley2: is there any way you can place a small powerhead in a location that would force water upon the mushroom? If you can it should release itself after a while do to the excessive current.
