they are apparently shutting down the "New To The Hobby"
section due to the fact that someone has apparently gotten fed up with stupid "Noob questions" or better yet "outrageous questions". It seems as though on reef central some questions are considered stupid after all. So for the sake of not being annoyed, risking letting someone (who in all honesty shouldn't be a pet owner) actually possibly kill their pets due to not having a place to ask questions.
i do admit some people get into the hobby way before they know what they are doing and i admit i do not myself know every answer to everything but thanks to this section and thanks to the countless speedy and informative responses of reef keeping members on here i have become the owner of two pretty decent tanks that impress my home visitors.
thank you reef central for your VERY helpful "new to the hobby" section and thank you REEF CENTRAL MEMBERS for your help and speedy advice.
i am not writing this to knock on reef central or administraton i am simply stating the fact that this section you are now looking to SHUT DOWN has been the salvation of many NOOB owners who just needed a push in the right direction.
if you do not like the "retarded questions" asked by users then please dont reply to them. maybe someone else will...out of a sense of helpfulness or maybe ironic entertainment and in doing so maybe save a living creature or two from the inexperience or better put lack of experience of the poster.
this section has brought many wreath users together and maybe even created friendships and if you wish to shut it down just so you dont have to look at the annoying questions do something first.
look at the amount of posts, replies and views and youll realize it is the MOST visited section of your forum where the most amount of information is exchanged and the most impact is created between NEW FISH OWNERS THAT ARE NEW TO THE HOBBY and advanced reef keepers.
sorry we weren't all born smart but wanted a place to go for advice.
P.S.- to those who have not seen this article yet...here you go.
