shuttle launch yesterday?

I have been trying to make it over for a night launch... missed the last one after they scrubbed the first night.

I saw it, gotta say the night launch back in like December was THE BOMB just light up the sky it was nice.

i got to see it from the backyard and only 5 miles away. windows in this area shake like hell. also the night lanches in this area are unreal. my wife works out there and we got a lanch pass for the night lanch and was 1 mile east of the pad and so close you can see the astronauts get into the vehicle. if anybody has never seen a launch let me know and we have several spots on the river that a prime viewing areas for launches. and possibbly get some of you out to the launch area to view.

Joe,
I REALLY want to see one last night launch before the program scraps here in the near future. Any hookup to get out to the onsite areas would be more than I could ever repay you for.

Wow, I would love to see one up close. A night launch would be awesome. I heard they dump a bunch of water when it launches to tone down the noise. Joe, is it true that back when they started it actually knocked people's windows out, or just a legend?

carol it depends on which way the shuttle goes. friday's launch went north due to the docking of the space station but we have a 15 foot bay window and it gives it a go wave action to it. i'll have my wife put in for a pass for the next one and we can fit 5 additional people in our vehicle. i don't know about the water thing because i'm a young lad but it would not suprise me. i know when you are out on base for the launches they prepare you for the worst case due to fallout from fuel etc. mfp4073 and waterfaller you guys are inline. it is a site to see for sure. i am born a raise here in brevard county and all my family either works out there or retired from there and it's just like any other summer afternoon storm for me kinda like disney. i'll keep people posted on the next launch and passes

I grew up here. Been here my entire life. But I have my entire life gone out to watch the launches, especially the manned ones, and wave them off. I dont think I will ever outgrow it or take it for granted.

Watching a launch (from close by - not my house in Orlando) is on Dad's list of things to do before he dies. I keep telling him that soon would be good, as we likely won't live this close again... and now that he's retired, he can afford to stay in town despite launch delays.

We'd love to be included - or maybe we just need an ORCA party at your place!

Danielle

wow, people would come over here for a shuttle launch!?

wasn't home to watch this one. (live right around the corner from Joe). i was stuck behind everyone that lives on Hwy50 near Speedworld that decided it is ok to stop on and block hwy50 to watch the shuttle go up!

not a problem mrs smith. i guess i do take it for granted for something that is special to other people. i'll find out the next launch date and bring it up a future meeting and if there are enough people willing to drive over here the party thing might work. just remeber launches are all up to mother nature and those damn electronics. ps there might be a open house soon and that would let you see the shuttle up close and all the places that make the program work. my wife works at the sspf. all the building and things have these weird names kinda like our corals do and it's the space station processing faculity. she orks in the same building the astonauts live when they are here. i find out if there is one of those up and coming and that also would be how many people we can fit into one vehicle. let you all know

Is your around the corner from joe the same as gwrench's? You guys out that a ways seem to have an awfully long around the corner. :P

joe is about 5 minutes from my house and george is about 15 minutes through town.

but i could almost hit Joe's house with a stone from my backyard, just no direct way from here to there.

hey ben sytanek came over to buy some stuff and wanted i him to go to george's place and told them that it's around the corner and to me being semi in the woods since i go over there 4-5 times a week it's like going to the store for me. it seems like to us it takes 10 mintues to get to anywhere. and brannon if you look on a map ben is not kidding, where the fairway is behind my house if you could walk through the woods he's right there. there are houses on that fairway are only accesible from ben's street. to weird

lol, ohhhh so he actually lives around the corner? lol

We just like to pick on Joe about that. Next time I come out to Joe's will have to stop by an meet yall. :P

We watched from the parking lot! No matter how many times I see one, I still get goose bumps! The absolute best, though, was a night launch we watched from Veteran's pier in Titusville. You could feel the heat we were so close!

I would like to go and watch also. Just hanging out in the back yard, maybe have a cookout or something would be kewl.
