SiamReefClub tank project III

Just to share...

I had used artificial rocks previously and encountered one out of about 20pieces leaking chemical(smelled like thinner). The chemical leak continued despite soaking for more than 2 weeks. In the end, removed away that pieces.

Thus, would advise any users that wanted to use artificial rocks to soak in tubs of water separately before putting into our precious reef tank.

Sorry Changchai, I only saw these thread today or else I would have shared this experience earlier.

Hope these unlucky stuffs stayed away from SRC display tank.

shiok. Thank you for your information.
This is what I concern too.
I am planning to run the empty tank for three weeks or so before putting corals.
Fishes will be introduced later.

Hello Chingchai,
Inspirational as always. May I ask how come u don't need a overflow box?

The large diameter of the two overflow pipes also provide a pretty good amount of surface skimming. Assuming they are each 3" pipes that is a total of 18.8" linear surface skimming area. Even if they are only 2" (which from the picture doesn't look accurate, but it's hard to tell) that would be 12.566" of linear surface skimming area.

Ching, is that a 12bulb t5HO and 6 VHO bulbs?

Hi Changchai,

What I have been impressed is your willingness to share and humbleness. Even though you clearly has rich experience in reefing, you are still willing to take and explore all comments with an open-mind attitude. This speaks alot about you!

This willingness to pay heed to comments propel your builds to keep getting better and better.

Do you know whether will acrylic tank turns yellowish over time? I have this concern as clear plastics tends to turn yellow after some time especially exposed to uv light.
