Sicce pumps are over rated......

RC was free from jerks until you came here and started posting in bold and red. We are all nice people here and we would love to try to help you with your pump problems, so I would suggest changing your attitude or moving on.
I own the sicce and the OTP 3000. If you want to talk about that--> fine, if not SHUT UP about non reef related, personal issues.
Have a great sunshiny day. :D

I think you have it backwards RC is where people get kicked off first. Then they go to those other sites.

Teacher: And why do they get kicked off class?
Class: For being rude and eating other people's snacks.

hey wattsup?,
I read all the way through your thread and was suprised that no one asked this... do you want to sell the Sicce pump?

I have a nw 200 that I have done about all I can to mod it except install the Sicce pump. That was my next step.

If you don't like the pump I will buy it from you, at a discount of course since it is broke.

let me know,
thanks

No the pump is not a new pump. Did you read my post? I'm not ranting and raving, why is it when someone says something that is disagreeable they get attacked? Why is that? I suppose weakness.

There is sooo much more to a skimmer though than just air. My reference was skimmate pulled from the same tank. I have not moved the skimmer. Nor have I added any bio load, or changed feeding.

I snapped the shaft on the Sicce. I'll order another and the Pin wheel. Is reef specialty the only supplier of the purple pin wheel? They don't list a ceramic shaft. I'll need both.

Yes I did read your post:

So after reading soooo much about the mesh modded Sicce pumps, I broke down and ordered one.

From this statement on your 1st post I gathered that it was a new pump, so which is it then? What part of my post was "attacking" you? I was actually trying to help you by asking some questions to rule out problems, not attack you. And you are correct, there is more to a skimmer then air input, but based on your statement:

With any skimmer the bottom line is not how much air it pulls or what country it's from. It's how much skimmate it pulls.

I thought your argument was based on skim only, which in my opinion is not a valid argument. Instead of inferring that everyone else is a "jerk" why not take the time to re-read your own posts. Good luck with your skimmer..

Alright lets calm down now. I just don't want to get hammered just for posting in bold type. I didn't understand why I was getting hammered for it. The red... I suppose. I am big enough to admit when I've been wrong I apologize for being rude. I felt I was attacked first.

The thing is, I don't really need any help with my skimmer. I didn't think I even asked for any help. Well, finding the carbon rod, but I am not buying from MSX anymore. I fully understand how skimmers work. I fully understand how to mod one. My Octo NW200 is fully modded. I have a whole role of Enkamat pf4a in my closet. If my mind changes in the future I will gladly eat my words. I never once said that I wanted to get rid of my Sicce, just that they are not the be all end all pump that so many people report them as, thus being overrated.

Now right now I've got the sicce running in a 29 water change tank. Fashioned a temporary carbon fiber rod. I found some material that is very interesting and mesh modded the Sicce with it. Without using the stock venturi And just some 3/8 airline in it. To my amazement the thing pulled nearly 60 scfh right off the bat. I (eating a little crow here) don't think the octo 3000 would do that. But its running in the skimmer right now. I dont know how well this material will hold up long term. It is very similar to enkamat only finer strands, much thicker ( like 3/8in or so ) and more dense.

Where did you get that material, I might want to give it a try. Who knows maybe we have some new mesh that make these pumps pull more scfh.

Yup ... your so right ...finally , someone else that thinks as I ....they totally suck..

I still dont understand how they can make this skimmate though.... please help me understand...

Now hold on just a minute there.

FYI, this is a NW200 "fully modded":

I believe I own the only "fully modded" NW200 in existance - but I'd be happy to build one for you for a nominal fee :D

And - even though the OTP3000 can be made into a beast of a pump - I'd still say the Sicce is better...

;)

Reefjunkie the 8-3 is 30" tall right? The Sicce starts having lower performance on skimmers over 24" tall, too much back pressure. You might want to look into the Eheim pumps, they handle the height and back pressure a lot better.

I made it a recirculating pump/skimmer.Works like a champ.

It`s in sump. Not sure if You can run them out of water.I know one thing for sure it BLOWS the sedra 9000 away hands down and is so much more quiet!I plan on adding one more pump to it here in the near future.Just gotta scrounge the funds.
I didnt have any luck with the meshed impeller.Tried everything and had startup problems every time.Runs great with the needlewheel.

I just replaced the mesh with the SWC pinwheel and which I had done it earlier. No start up problems at all and the head is not more of a foam instead of large bubbles that the mesh was producing.
