Sicce Voyager #2s or #3s

OK you Sicce Voyager fans (programmed with RKL), I'm replacing my controllable K3s (up to 850gph) with 2 new Voyagers, what size should I get for my 36"L 90g tank (see link), the #2 which is 800gph, or the #3 which is 1,250gph? I'm guessing two #2s will be plenty right? I have good flow coming from the reture already.

Any tips on setting them up with the RKL?

You could always do a 2 and a 3 to be on the safe end of things. You could put the 3 closer to your SPS and the 2 near your softies depending on how your tank is layed out. I would think that the two 2's should be fine though.

Id go with bigger ones and dial them back if needed. Always think ahead. Everything I buy I make sure I can use on a bigger tank if I wanted too. Maybe this is just me,lol.

Ha, too funny... Just got back from AC, and got one #2 and one #3...LOL. The #2 and #3s are exactly the same physical size, hmmm, interesting.

Andy, any tips I need to know for programming them on the RKL...Like, uhhh, everything you know about it, LOL.

I bet that the #2 and #3 are identical except for the impeller. That should mean an easy and cheap upgrade on the 2 to a 3 in the future.

Yeah, you could be right...I'll have to compare. However, the #2 says 7v and the #3 says 10v... Perhaps they make as many pump housings the same (based on largest motor application) to reduce costs, then they just fit several different motors for each flow spec.

oh, yeah, that's probably right then. Weird approach, other pumps manufacturers will often use the same housing/motor, etc and just swap up the impeller to get 2-3 models. The Danner MagDrive pumps are like that, the 5 and the 7 are the same (I think) and the 1 and 3 are, etc.

Got them running in the DT. Wow, they are powerful when fully open. Well, these are going to take some tweaking in a 36" long tank... Haven't tried programming with the RKL yet. So far I like that they are super quiet, very powerful, and have wavemaker usage. Downside, I wish they were black instead of gray (draws your eye against a black background), they standout a lot more than the Koralias, I'm not a fan of the bracket, when rotating it, if you twist it slightly it will pop off, I like the ball/socket adjustment better of the Ks (better for fine tuning direction). Overall, GREAT. The flow adjustments almost function like somewhat of a wavemaker. I'll give another report after some more tweaking and trying the RKL with them.
