Sick anthias in QT

I already have cupramine, prazi and maracyn in the water. I'd have to do a 100% water change and check to see if I can mix anything new. The remaining anthias have no signs of any illness and are active and eating well. I think for now I'll continue the regiment I have going until the time is up for the prazi and maracyn and observe closely. Using a broad spectrum antibiotic would wipe out the bio filter and I can run skimmerless with no bio filter for another 3 weeks.

I'll look into everything you guys mentioned today in case I need to change something. Thanks for the help.

I have one left that has the same mark, its not deep like the other anthias but its there. She's eating well. I mixed Zoe, Garlic, and Zoecon in her food to add some vitamins to her diet. See how things go.
Sorry about your fish. I hope things turn around.

FWIW; Maracyn aka erythromycin is mostly just effective against gram positive bacteria. If the infection happens to be gram negative (it's impossible to tell without a culture sample & microscope), then erythromycin isn't going to help much. Using a broad spectrum antibiotic covers both. And while it does kill some of your bio filter's beneficial bacteria; IME it doesn't decimate it enough to render it ineffective. AKA I've never experienced an ammonia spike in QT (or the DT before I kept corals) from using a broad spectrum antibiotic.

Glad to hear that. I went with ethromycin for the specific reason of targeting gram positive to avoid wiping out the filter. If I see any signs of it spreading I'll switch to a broad spectrum.

As for the prazi, is it rendered ineffective after the treatment period or will I need to do a 100% water change or run carbon to take it out? And I guess the same question goes for the ethromycin...

You can safely use Minocycline (aka Maracyn-Two) in conjunction with erythromycin. Minocycline treats gram negative.

Prazi is rendered ineffective after 72 hrs max. Erythromycin doesn't even last that long, which is why they'll tell you to repeat dosage every 24 hrs. The only one you need to do a WC for (after 5-7 days) is the Prazi. And that's just to remove any dead flukes and toxins they release. Typically, you do a 25% WC after 5-7 days, dose Prazi again, and then that treatment is considered done.
