Made a post in the clownfish forum but it has got no responses tonight: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2190230

Basically my clownfish is sick, has what looks like clear bubble algae growing on its dorsal & anal fins. The fish has been sick for a few days, was sick a month ago also which I attributed to swallowing an air bubble and/or inflated swim bladder. The fish recovered last time but this time is worse and the bubbles are making me wonder if there is some sort of parasite.

I have more info & pictures in the other post.

Oh, and I have had this fish for about 9 months.

Google "brooklynella' and include images; maybe something will make sense. "Clownfish" and "bubbles" often indicate this parasite. Any new fish added recently? Any peeling or sloughing skin? Is the fish behaving normally or acting very weak?

Thanks for the advice, I was already aware of brook being somewhat common on clownfish so that was my first guess but it just doesnt look like that. Every image of brook I have seen looks more like a mucusy goop on the fish.

The damnest thing is that when I got home today the fish was back to swimming around like normal, still has the bubbles but looks 10x healthier as far as activity. Was back to eating.

I didn't post all the details but just incase someone comes across this later...

Basically my fish has a history of what I believe is ingesting air bubbles when eating food that auto dispenses out of an auto feeder. About a month ago the fish got lethargic and VERY bloated, eyes buldging out of its head, scales starting to stick out, was sitting on the other side of the tank from the toadstool it hosts on and basically looked like it was on its death bed.

Then what seemed like a random event one day the fish was unbloated and fine.

Fast forward about 30 days, same thing. 4 days into it the bubbles appear then I post here and the next day the fish is unbloated and eating/swimming around fine again.

The one thing I did both times before the fish got healthy was dosing the tank with kent marine garlic extreme.. 1 drop per 10 gallons like it says..

I make my own fish food and already have the garlic in the mix but for whatever reason both times the fish has been like this the day after I systematically dose garlic it gets better, so I have no idea if there is a causal relationship so I will leave that to the judgement of someone smarter than me.

Will update this if the fish 100% recovers and the bubbles go away.
