Sick clownfish update

Well that clownfish died. And the other one I have got the same thing. White feathery/mucusy looking patches on its body. I borrowed a 25g tank from a friend and got it setup with the same salinity /ph /temp as my main tank. I know putting a fish in new (treated with dechloronator) water is not the best situation but the last clownfish died very quickly after developing this problem and I figured I had nothing to loose. Exept alot more money than a clownfish costs for the filter ect.... Anyways I setup the 25g with no substrate and a marineland biowheel filter (I took apart the filter cartridge and removed the carbon) I treated the water with SeaCure copper treatment I ended up using 1/3 more than the recommended dosage (25 drops the first dose then 12 drops 12 hours later then another 25 drops) to get the copper level to .15ppm like the instructions said it should be at. I also used AP Pro's Quick cure (it was the only thing i could find that had formalin in it) It also has Malachite green in it. I set out to do a 3 min freshwater dip as described in the instructions for the Seacure copper treatment but 1:30 into it the fish was in immediate danger of dying (lying on his side) so I took him out and put him in the newly setup quarantine tank. This took place last night. This morning he didn't look good (about the same as yesterday) So I gave another dose of the quick cure (it says I can dose 3 times in 3 days) This afternoon the patches started hanging off then finally fell of him. He seems to be recovering now.. I'm concerned about leaving him in this brand new setup for any length of time. The water went cloudy this afternoon although all the levels are good.. How long should I leave him in here? I was thinking 4 weeks origionally but with the water being cloudy and I'm sure the ammonia is going to spike before 4 weeks..... Any suggestions? I don't want to loose another clown..

Combining copper, formalin, and malachite green in my opinion is over medicating your fish and almost as bad as the disease itself. If your fish has Brooklynella, formalin baths work best and the copper is unnecessary.

I have heard of people using quick cure (formalin & malachite green) in a pinch for treating brook. Its not something I would recommend because the std recommended doseage of formalin is based on using just formalin and if you used that doseage with quick cure chances are the malachite green component would have an adverse impact. Copper is not considered an effective treatment for brook and formalin can increase the toxicity of copper. Lastly FW dips are not considered an effective treatment for brooklynella.

Drs Foster sells formalin - might consider keeping in your fish med chest.

The problem was I don't know what he had / has it could be marine velvet... I didn't use more than the recommended dose of quick cure.
