Sick Fish??

Two of Dwarf Angel ( a coral beauty and a bi color dwarf) both have one of there eyes a little puffy and is slighty cloudy in color. Is this something to worry about or should i take some sort of action??

It could be fungus. If you have 2 dwarf angels in a 26 I am sure they are fighting each other, partially due to the limited space, and partially being that angelfish don't typically like seeing similar body shape species in the same tank. If you have 2 angels in with 2 clowns, a wrasse, and 2 firefish, then that is too much for a 26. That is just not enough room for 2 angels and they are picking on each other (whether you see it or not). I am willing to put money on it that they were fighting and got at each other's eyes, and now fungus is growing on the sores.

If you want to do something, give one or both of the angels away, sell them back at the LFS, or at a bare minimum, seperate the angels, and treat them for a fungus infection. But I would recommend if you are keeping them and plan to treat both, don't treat them together, as they will probably continue to pick on each other.

Putting 2 angels in the same tank is always a delicate task. Putting 2 angels in a small tank is usually not a recipe for success.

Usually, once a tank gets crowded, aggression levels tend to spike in the tank.

I agree the tank is overcrowded and two angels don't often make it even in a significantly larger tank. As for the illness,fungus from a wound could be the problem. Although, cloudy eyes may be associated with flukes as well.

I agree with the above suggestions regarding angel compatibility. They simply should not be mixed.

Typically I don't think it's worthwhile to treat for fungus. If you do decided to treat them, they should be removed from the display and medication should be administered in a quarantine/hospital tank.

You might also consider that the fish have "pop-eye." If so, do look into the use of epsom salt...

has anyone ever had sucess using melafin..to treat cloudy eyes?

I've use melafix to treat a fish with shredded fins. The fish healed nicely in a qt tank. Wether the melafix did it or the qt peace and quiet did ,I don't know.

the cloudy eyes could be a number of things: bacterial or fungal ifection to a wound or flukes treatable with prazipro. This thread may be relevant.

I just lost the one dwarf bi color...but the other dwarf coral beauty is still alive with the cloudy eye. Do you guys think i should remove the coral beauty to a hospital tank. I removed the dead bi color and put in in fresh water for 10 minutes just to see if any flukes fell off,,,but i didn't see anything. So just wanted to know if it would be feasable to remove the coral beauty or would this just increase his stress and complicate matters. I've been adding MELAFIX to the tank for the past three days to my main tank as i was told that this might help

If it's an infection due to a wound you can either wait it out.Sometimes it will heal or the fish will loose the eye or worse. If it is this it will usually look like pop eye. Antibiotics are reported to help but I haven't tried them.I have a barletts anthias with popeye that appears to be slowly healing on it's own.

Maybe,in the eyes or on the fins. They're trasnparent when alive and hard to see without magnification.. There are some pictures in the thread I noted a few posts up.
