Sick Leopard

I got a leopard wrasse yesterday and added him to my tank. He seemed to be doing fine, he was out swimming around and ate some artic pods. This morning he is laying on the sand on his side and will not move for a few mins then just float around to his next spot and just lay. He doesnt seem to be having a hard time breathing from what I can tell. Is there anything I can do or is he done for?

Leopards can be extremely difficult to have success with. Couple questions...

How old is your tank?
What are your tank parameters?
How did you acclimate the wrasse?
How long had it been at the LFS?
Didi you see it eat there?

The tank has been set up since last aug. My parameters are:

sg: 1.025
nitrates and nitrites are both under 5
amonia: under 2
dkh: 7-8
temp: 78
ca: 440

The fish was at my LFS for a couple of days. I saw him take a couple bites at the store and once he was in my tank I watched him eat a little. From all the reading I have done on RC for the most part everyone said to just put them right in the tank so thats what I did. I have moved him into my fuge. He shows signs of swimming around then just lays there. It seems to me he is only moving his gills on one side. Is there any meds or even carbon that would possibly help.

My Leopard did the same thing for a month. But after a month he started to swim.
And now he is very fat and happy. It just takes time for them to adjust.

Ammonia "under 2" and Nitrites "under 5" are huge problems. An Ammonia of .5 is lethal to fish. And I'm fairly sure Nitrites around that level are too.

if you guys or gals ever notice... asking for people water parameters is pointless! Everyone will tell you their water is perfect. Come on people....if you have fish, coral or algae issues- you have [profanity]water.........

After reading posts... no wonder why our hobby has such a bad rap.... Please please please- research all fish and corals before placing them in the tank... I know $20-$50 may not be alot of money for many of you to waste on a fish or coral but that is a life we are talking about! Do your research and save a reef!!!!!!!!!!!!
