Hello:

I just realized both of my maroon clown fishes are sick. They eat ok and all, but there are white stuff growing on them. It is not ICK. I have ick in the tank, but that is not what this is. I have photo of their spots. The spots only appears under the pectoral fin. If the fishes hold the pect fin to their body, you will not see anything.

There are 2 other fishes in that same tank, but they are not sick at all.

The white spots are too big to be ick. It almost look like the spot came from underneath their skin.

If you have seen this, please help.

Could be internal parasites...look through some sites on common clownfish diseases. How long have they been in your tank? Were they wild caught? Where'd you get them from, LFS, online site, friend, etc?

Somewhere on rareclownfish.com I think someone went through this. Does it actually come out of the scales? Did it make a bump on them when forming or did it just show up? Do clownfish get flukes; if so could it be them?

Thanks for replying. The gold banded one I got about 3 month ago from someone leaving the hobby, it came with a RBTA. The smaller one come from a petsmart. They looked fine for the last couple of month. The spots only formed in the last week or so. I have not introduced any new live stock at all.

The wounds do look like they come out of the scales, it looks like there are cotton covering them. Disgusting to look at.

I am going to monitor them for a couple more days, if things gets worse, I will fish them out and medicate them in a 5 gal plastic tank I have.
