sick royal gramma?

I have a royal gramma that is breathing heavily through his mouth. One of his gills actually looks swollen too. Below his mouth it looks like there is some soft tissue/gook hanging off of him. I do not know if he was the victim of an attack or if this rings a bell for any kind of disease. A picture would be very difficult to take. Other inhabitants in the tank are a blenny, clownfish, goby, damsels....none of which show any signs of violence. None of my other fish show any signs of distresss. My water parametes are also right on. My other royal gramma is also fine.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Andrew

Two possible attackers come to mind... damsels are never innocent, always include them in the lineup. Also, you mentioned your "other royal gramma"... these guys will attack each other, they don't tolerate each other in the same tank. I've got a feeling your healthy royal gramma may be to blame here.

id take a close look at your other royal gramma and see if he can look you in the eye and say it wasnt him.

jandree is correct, normally royal gramas will not tolerate their own kind in the same tank, keep an eye on your damsel too.

all your fish are innocent until proven guilty so it would be nice if you could include your water params aswell

Thanks Joel. I have had them for about a month now and they were always fine. I have watched them for the last hour and the healthy gramma is picking on the injured one.

Thanks for the feedback
