Sick/Struggling Anemone?

Check the Condy's mouth to see if it is gaping. That is usually a good indicator of an anemone's health. If it has a tight closed mouth usually things are okay. Once it starts gaping and exposing the white noodle like insides then things are not good.

unattaching is never a good sign. These can go south very quickly. Ideally now would be the time to switch it to a quarantine tank. Things to look at would be the mouth as suggested and evaluate it to see if it is sticky at all. Definitive bad signs are bad smell and disintegration.

We moved him to the quarantine tank that night. The size of his mouth fluctuates. One day it will be huge -- a little bigger than a half-dollar, then it will be back to normal. No stench detected as of yet. We put one of the smaller rocks in with him. He was attached to that for about 24 hours. He now looks like he's attached himself to the bottom of the tank.

This is what he looks like as of now.

There is a chance. It is not totally mush yet.

Care and patience. Nice light flow.
Lighting.
A rock to hold on to.

Some water changes to get rid of junk you can not see.

Thank you. I hope he does make a come back.

He is in the QT with a T5 light and a home made skimmer which is working pretty well with a HOB filter(with an acrylic guard just in case he gets too close) and I'm about to do another 20% water change.

Also I had added some phos-guard into the filter to try and lower those phosphates down.

Let me know if their is anything else I need to/can do for him.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

UPDATE:

I feel like this anemone doesn't know what it wants to do..It will show a positive sign with a negative sign.

Like for example, this picture.. He has attached himself back to the rock, but now his mouth looks pretty bad.

Then he will detach himself and then his mouth will close up and start looking better.

I guess I just need to give him time and hope for the best? Any treatments or remedies I could try to get him back on the right path?

How are the pictures today?

Have you done a water change on the tank it is in?

Can you direct some flow to it, by bouncing it off a wall? Not a lot. Just some to make it wave.

looks about the same, maybe a little worse. I'll try to post a picture in the am.

I have done water changes. Two 20% changes since he was moved to the QT last week.

The tank is only a 10 gallon so the hob filter does add a little flow to the tank, just enough for him to rock back and forth gently.

There is always this brown almost dirt looking substance on the bottom of the tank. I will clean it up and its coming right back. I don't know if that's him dissolving? or pooping? or expelling the little zooxanthellae he did have? I just usually use a turkey baster and gently remove it from the tank when it starts to build up.

Appreciate the response.
Glad someone is throwing ideas out there to help..
