Note, before I start, I want to say that this is NOT a picture of the tang I have, but of a photoshopped picture of a tang. I dont have a camera and the phone on my camera isnt fast enough to take a clear picture of this tang.
I just recently bought this tang at Petco (only fish store near me that has saltwater fish), and I already knew he was sick. The only reason I picked this guy over one of the healthy ones they just started acclimated right before I got there was because every time I came in, I saw this guy, and I assumed because of his state that nobody wanted him. So I just went ahead and purchased this guy on a mission to save his life, because I felt like he wasnt going to do any better at Petco.
1. His whole body seems to have a brownish tint, even on the fins, but near the edges of all of his fins it seems to be of normal color.
2. The gills are very dark, an almost black color. Whenever I get near the tank he gets very shy and hides behind some live rock, so his color starts to darken as well.
I searched around on google but I couldnt find anything close enough to what he has, maybe because there are multiple symptoms of what he has. As soon as I got him home, I started the whole acclimation process. By the time he was released into the tank, Id give it like 5-10 minutes before he started cruising the tank, exploring and what not. He grazes on any algae in the tank, eats normally and healthy, but what startles me is how he isnt as bright as a "healthy" tang is, or atleast look remotely close to what Ive seen online. What could he have? Treatments?
