Hi, I was trying to figure out how to tell the difference between a Siganus Doliatus, and a Siganus Virgatus. They look very much the same to me and in my opinion are very beautiful fish.
Thank you for your inquiry. The Doliatus has a thinner dark line running from below the mouth and over the eye and another behind the gill plate where the Virgatus displays a thicker dark line in the same areas. Virgatus tends to be lighter in coloration and does not have the distinct blue maze pattern on the body of the fish as the Doliatus does. Please contact us with any other questions or concerns.
