No Pistons
Well for some reason I didn't check the tanks after I got off work until just now.
The fan in the 20, my main "reef" atm, quit and it's at 89.9 :(
So far looks like I lost a large colony of mixed green clove/daisy polyps a pink/green rim favia colony and the whatever frag of some super-duper special favia I bought last year from Ron.
I don't know what else yet but I'm trying really hard to find a reason not to give it all up right now.
A green/red chalice colony and the zoas seem OK for now.

I hate to hear that. :( Stuck heater or does it get that hot without the fan? Either way, that is very disappointing.

If your heart is not in it, maybe not give up but just take a step back. You might find that your not ready to give it up after all, then again you might find the opposite.

The fan is hooked into the light timer and they don't come on before I go to work but it ran fine the day before so it wimped out sometime yesterday. I always check skimmers, pumps etc. in the am and usually check the tanks again about 4:00 just didn't yesterday.

Mike it's a 20 high with a 250w MH so it heats up that much just from the light. Normally with the fan running it stays around 79-80. Since I had a heater explode and cook that tank about 6 years ago I don't even have it on this time of year.
My heart hasn't been in it since the 220 crashed which is why I haven't done a lot with it but this little tank was making me excited again. Getting a good group of us together again for swapping and just being around for each other was making it fun again too.
This was just the last thing I needed this month...some of you know it's not a good time for me right now but after taking a deep breath I'm still too stupid to call it quits. The current plan is put a second fan on the tank as a backup, plug the heater back in so it doesn't get too cool and restock with the corals I'm getting from Alt... btw I'm really glad we didn't hook up Sunday :)

Overall I just needed to vent last night and I'm glad this forum is still here for me to do that.

Excellent. Glad to see your sticking around.

You know, more volume is more stability. MIght be time to plug the 220 back in... :D

Lloyd it's still up I just never messed with it much after it crashed a couple years ago. Lost interest in it for awhile, then couldn't afford to rework and restock it. Now lately we haven't had the time to spend on it.
We need to replace the center MH ballast...stole it for the 20 last year...and get new bulbs. Upgrade the flow, still leaning toward a polario right now, and do several massive water changes. Also eradicate a few majanos. ;)
Hopefully we'll start working on it this summer. Gotta pay off my new toy first. :D

Mike the daisys are mad but looking better. The green cloves all bailed from that rock but they're remounted and trying to open. Ended up with about 6 heads of the pink/green favia left (out of 20-30) and there's still some flesh left from a wine colored head that was on the same rock. Strangely enough ended up loosing a bunch of orange zoas that hadn't looked bad at first and the chalice looks like nothing even happened. I'm sure the fact the tank was basically neglected for the last 5 weeks hasn't helped either.
Btw after hooking up with Alt yesterday the tank is over flowing with corals. Yet another reason to get moving on the 220 soon.

It's also harder to correct when something does go wrong. 50% water change on the 20 is 10 gallons vs. 100 in the 220.

What is a 'polario'?

Well, it sounds like at least it wasn't a total loss. Glad some things are coming around for you. Tank full of new coral is always a good sight. :)

Oh, if you got a cap from Alt and you get it to color up let me know what your doing. I recently moved my to lower light to see if I can get some color in it.

Rio/Seio polario
I know it's not a Tunze or Vortec but I've used seios for several years now with no problems.
Also just noticed Premium is now carrying the RESUN I've heard good things about these for the price point.

Oh and yes I have a new toy :D

When I get a new toy it might be a controller for my fish tank or a part for a gun, when you get a toy you go all out! Very nice.

Hopefully some of this rain will subside so you can enjoy the drop top.
