Signs of starving sps

What are the signs of starving coral?

I have high nitrates 15, but my corals are pale in color. Should I continue to run GFO?

In your case, I would consider vodka (and/or vinegar) dosing to create a bacteria driven system to control nitrates as well. You may also use less GFO and achieve a better nutrient balance with some care. There are lots of posts on these methods you can find by using the search feature. JMTC & GL!

I will look into dosing vodka, thanks

Pardon me for asking, but how much GFO are you running? What's your total system volume?

GFO can lead to diminished color in SPS. Just a thought.

I am running about 3/4 the recommended amount of GFO on a 120 gallon in a brs dual chamber reactor along with rox 0.8 carbon. I have a feeling that the high grade carbon is over efficient. I am feeding very little every other day. I am confused as to my high nitrates but my seemingly low nutrient levels.
