silence mag drive vibrations

I have a mag 7 in my tank, has been there roughly 9 months now. This thing was loud sitting on the glass with vibrations, the guy at my LFS said to put a mouse pad under it and it will be fine. So I did, and it worked with no ill effects on the tank that I could see. With that being said, the mousepad now is starting to dissolve in the water which one could assume that isnt good for the tank itself. I know if I remove it, I will have the loud noise again. What do you guys recommend to keep this thing quiet and off of the bottom glass.

Silicone trivets, potholders, work pretty well. I bought a similar thing in the form of a silicone wineglass drying mat at Target for like $10 that I cut up into a few different pads. Filter pads work well too but they can trap detritus easier than a hunk of silicone.

I put 4 blobs of silicone on the bottom of the pump and then put a square piece of acrylic that is slightly bigger than the pump onto the silicone. The silicone absorbs any vibrations and the acrylic keeps the pump from falling over due to the higher center of gravity.

I put a dab of silicone on each corner and it works very well. Just make sure you use aquarium safe silicone.
