Silly macro question - Sigma 105mm

Errrm, the question is... HOW!? ;)

I'm new to SLR's and have it on a D50. I've got some great shots with my Sigma 28-80 macro, but it has a clearly defined "Macro" or "Normal" button on the side. I am not finding anything like this on the 105mm I just received. The two paragraph manual doesn't exactly help either.

Sorry, I'm kind of camera stupid...

The 105mm is a close up lenz. It could be thought of as being in macro all the time.

P.P. If your Sigma is of the EX series, you have one heck of a nice lenz for the money.

I kind of figured this was the case, but saw a slight "zoom" while I was in manual mode with this new lens. That was why I was wondering if I was doing it right.

It is the EX :) I will have to post some pictures later. My current T5 tank does well with the lighting, but my new 180 MH has issues with things being too dark (go figure), so I need to tweak that.

Thats not "zooming" thats manual focusing.

Bad wording on my part. I could see the size of the focus image changing (although slightly). It wasn't zooming per say, but more than I assumed that size would change while focusing.

The project image will change with most macro when focusing from infinity to 1:1. This fact is usually not quoted in the owner's manual nor the technical white paper, but a 105mm macro lens isn't actually 105mm when it is focused at 1:1. I do not know the maths function that describes the relation, but it sounds like you are doing it right.

Really, is there a way to "doing it wrong"? :D Have fun shooting, the macro lens should yield you some awesome photos once you get a hang of it.
