Simo's Clown & anemone Tank

Free is an excellent price. Btw nice use of solidworks, are you a designer or engineer by trade?

Lol a lot of the stuff is foc !
I used to be mate not the best on it these days I'm more jack of all trades and master of none lol

I want to fill the tank its been drying 4 days now but trying to wait 7 days its hard

update

OK so the tank has passed its leak test !! been filled just over 24hr now and everything is tip top :)

it will be borough in this week to re clad and start with the plumbing

Ive also started on the light bracket which is for a IT2080 I've had to take this apart to change the fittings so it will attach to the bracket as there was no way the boss would let me hang this form the ceiling !!

while i have it apart i will replace the fans for some 8db as the standard are 23db which can be bought from here

HI all

seems a few more people are tagging along now :)

had a few things moving forward

Lights

i have fitted the new fans now bit of a bugger as the connections were different so i have had to crimp the cables not tested this yet as im going to alter the power input i think its a poor and ugly design to have the power coming out the top where you can see this so i will change this so it comes out the back of the unit.

I have now built the sump and is currently been leak tested.. things are going to be tight in there so haven't 100% sorted where things are going to go

im thinking

1st section filter socks
2nd skimmer
3rd section will be to house my clown pair and maybe some mangroves
and 4th will be the return pump.

and the last bit of the update is the tank has finally made it into the house :)

really impressed with the cabinet looks perfect

Nice looking tank and stand. A very interesting way to do a overflow. It would suck if a fish went into that weir. Any plans for a way to get one out if a fish goes in there?

i have been working on the electrics and setting up equipment also attached the lights to the custom stand

and last but not least i have started on the cooling of the scrubbers LEDs

oh and one last thing is i need to protect the nems and the small clowns form the power heads

so i have started working on this box which will be able to house 3 x FS8000 power heads but will only use two for now and see how the flow pattern is

the box is from 5mm perspex and will be welded using meth chloride and 4mm holes in to allow the flow

Saw the BRS video just yesterday and said someday I want to do that, just get tons of clowns and nems in like a 90 gallon cube tank. I'm just starting in the hobby now though so someday way down the line when I get more experience.

yes im watching that too.. i don't think this is for everyone its a bit of a experiment really i have loads of tanks to swap and change if things go south !!

a little bit of work today on the turf scrubber installed the temp gauge will be painted and install this week too

should be doiing the big fill this weekend too so after months of planning its going to be wet :)

OK the tank is now filling at last ! spend a hour or so washing 25kg of 3mm sand in the rain lol

RO is running !! its 150gal per day so we shall see :)

plumbing finished and scrubber piped in still need the lights finishing off

i have also sectioned a part of the sump off so i can house the parent clowns or maybe something like pipe fish or garden eels i havent deiced yet !!

Well that's it the tank is wet ! Only took 8 months

Had to cut some new black acrylic to repair the back I've only put a small bit of silicon on so it can be removed for a deep clean if needed

Got around 30kg in there not 100% on the scape but it will do for now

Had to drain the ro water out as I wasn't happy of it been cloudy from the sand

Heavy dosing of seachem stability has now started which is what I'm using for the cycle

Things I'm. It happy with is I have to much flow so will have to work on the power head placement and back them down a bit

Next job is to get the scrubber going as the return from this feeds the section for my breeding clowns and I need to get them in ASAP

On the clown front typically they have now stopped breeding ! Just as I was getting on top of the rotifers

Nice build, what would you have done if 1 of the bulkheads leaked. Would you have to take the bottom piece of glass off to replace it? I would like to do a weir like this, but am worried about a leaky bulkhead with no real access.
Thanks

great point i wouldnt of been able to do anything other than try to reseal it from the outside

but when i fitted the bulk heads i used plenty of silicone and let it set for a few days so was confident in the seal

bit of a risk building this way but worked out well :)

also i like the retun part the best with no pipe work
