Simple plumbing ?

I am finally getting to plumbing my sump...1st major plumbing project.

I have a 2" bulkhead from my sump to return pump. Is there some sort of connector I should be using between the bulkhead and pipe? Similar to a bushing but not reducing the size. Maybe a female connector? Which I tried and is to small to screw onto the bulkhead's long side.

The pipe slips easily into the bulkhead, but it does not seem I should be simply gluing the pipe inside the bulkhead.

Thanks

That is a SLIP fitting and is designed to be glued.

Prime and glue the pipe into it. I would then glue on a union and valve and another union, or a true union valve. You want to be able to shut the water off and remove the pump for cleaning.

I prefer to bush up to the next size valve or union, as most are much more restrictive than they should be. The bushing and next larger valve usually provide larger ID than the correct size valve or union.

Also consider the use of FLEX PVC instead of HARD PVC. It will damped some of the vibration that would otherwise be transfered to the sump or tank through the plumbing.
