Simple, simple SALT question, I think?

Which salts have you used that dissolved COMPLETLY. No sludge, white residue, clouding. Just nice clear water.

I use coralife and get a brown residue on the inside of my mix bucket, which is the anti-caking agent used to keep the salt from solidifying in bag. The water itself is always nice and clean looking, just the bucket ends up looking dirty after a few waterchanges.
 
good mix = seachem reefsalt

mixes good. good macros. it is cloudy for a few mins while it mixes, but clears up fast with nothing left in the bucket
 
I've been using Oceanic for almost the entire life of my tank, which is about 6 1/2 years now. I don't remember ever seeing any residue and it mixes up pretty quickly. I can't complain about this salt. Plus, the price is descent around my area.

D&D H2Ocean will leave a brown residue on everything! The salt is amazing and I loved using it but I like ESV more.

H2Ocean leaves such a residue that D&D had to put out an official statement regarding it. They use a type of GFO to bind to phosphates in the salt. When it goes into your tank, it is skimmed out rather quickly. Most of the time nothing makes it into the tank though because it is left all over your pump and bucket.

Not difficult but a definite learning curve! Took me a little bit the first time because I read the instructions over and over.

The first batch I made up was awesome. Don't remember the numbers but they were on spot for me. I am about to make another gallon for my tank and will test alk and cal. Mg test is out right now.

The last batch I made, was a complete disaster. Total user error though! I tried doing 2 gallons (so you double the 1 gallon recipe) and forgot to double up on some stuff. After a lot of back stepping, I was positive I didn't double up on alk. In the end, I did though! So my alkalinity was north of 16dkh!

Lesson learned, write down your steps just so you have proof.

I know it sounds difficult and scary but I promise it is super easy! It is also way nice to be able to control the parameters. It mixes up clearer and cleaner than any salt I have ever used.

you are on a salt rampage aren't you :lol:

from what I can see (my container is black), red sea coral pro salt does not leave reside and dissolves pretty fast but I still mix overnight regardless. :)
