I used to have 2x400W but since I changed to 2x250W my sps corals are more happier, I also save money on my hydro bill too.

Well I use two 250w on my 75g, and it gives very good intense light into my tank

Definitely go with 2 halides for a 4 ft tank. One wont give you enough spread for 4 feet.
