Single white spot? Hmmm.

So I quarantined a new Powder Brown Tang for 4 weeks like a good soul. Looked great the whole time. Ate great. No problems. I carefully matched the Q tank water to the main tank water over a period of time before moving him. I gave him one last look-see then moved him yesterday.

Within an hour in the main tank I noticed what looked like a white spot near his cheek. Just one. Like a grain of salt. He's had the usual struggles with the previous inhabitants, a little chasing here and there but nothing serious. Could Ich present itself that rapidly? I looked at him this morning and the spot is still there. No others. He's eating very well, and behaving normally. No scratching or flashing.

I've not had any experiences with Ich. Is a single spot common? Or could this be something else?

cold be a piece of sand? keep a eye on it if it gets bigger, or multiplys- in the qt did you treat him for anything like hypo or copper?

Wondered about a piece of sand, especially with increased action of a new tank and all. It looks raised like a piece of sand and you can see that kind of depth to it at the correct angle. But I'd think by now (almost 24 hours later) it'd have fallen off.

Is Ich raised like that? He just got out of quarantine, and I really don't want to stress him by chasing him down and putting him back there for nothing.

Here's a close-up of the "spot." This makes it look almost like a scrape or something. Or would Ich look irregular close up.

Ideas?
