siphon effect

I just moved my tube down on my osmolator further into the sump and later is started siphoning water into my tank. I guess the pump does not block that from happening when it is not turned on? Is there a solution other than keeping the tube high?

Not a solution I recommend. The tube is supposed to go to the aquarium. You could run a tube up from the reservoir, put a T at the top with a check valve on the top end that would allow air in but not water out and then a hose going from the other end of the T in to the sump. This will fail someday though so don't come to me when everything is soaked. It is done the way it is done because gravity can never fail and I strongly suggest sticking with the hose going into the aquarium but not touching the water surface.

Or use Roger's suggestion sans the check valve... just put a couple inches of pipe or tubing on the side of the T facing up to provide a relatively splash-free sipon-break.

Works for me. :)

Hmm, I have never tried it I just worried the water would come out the top of the T and came up with that idea as a solution.
