Six-line wrasse question. Help plz.

My new six line is awesome. Yesterday he swam in and out of my rockwork and ate both times I fed. Then around 7 p.m. yesterday I didn't see him. I thought he was just hiding but I didn't think he was a hider. Well today I haven't seen him either and am getting worried. I looked all around the tank to see if he jumped and couldn't find him. My top is almost completely covered. Anyone know what is up?

I just got a 6 line too! I love it so far! Mine is in QT and has very few hiding places... but enough to hide

Do you have flatworms?

No flatworms, I just wanted a cool fish that swam a lot. I thought all wrasses were active but apparently not. Still love the little bugger tho.

Sixlines are active, but very secretive. Normally they swim in and around the rockwork, not necessarily out in the open. They do a lot of work picking at the live rock for things to eat so they normally just stay around where the rock is. Once he gets settled in you'll probably see him more.

Mine found a place to sleep and I don't know where that is. During the photoperiod, he's out and swimming all the time at a nice speedy clip. Great fish, and yes you have to have nearly complete tank coverage to keep them in. :)

A lot of wrasses make a "mucus cocoon" when they sleep. I would bet money that he found a nice place in a dark cave to sleep. The "cocoonââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ can delay them waking up. I wouldnââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t worry about it too much unless days go by without seeing him. After that I would bet a crab or some kind of predator got him or possibly a rock slide. Iââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢ve had several of these guys in addition to adding them to hundreds tanks both FO and reef. They are always out and about unless they are getting picked on or acclimated poorly.

It's been an entirely day since I've seen him last and its a 15 gallon. He hasn't jumped I've checked. Tank parameters are all in check. Now I'm getting scared. I fed mysis but he didn't show up. Any suggestions?

Sounds like we have the same fish!! I added mine two days ago and he was out and about the first day. A few green Chromis gave him a hard time, but he gave it right back to them. I haven't seen him on day two including at feeding time. No sign of him anywhere.

Want to see him! Put an expensive fish into the tank. He will come out and pester him constantly.

Haha, It's him and a yellow watchman in there, so I can't any more fish for him to pester lol.

I just got one on sunday. I love how these guys swim in and out of the rocks too!!! I acclimated mine for an hour, fed right before lights out and got to enjoy the fish for about 30 minutes. He jumped out that night. Check under the stand and all around it, behind it, under power cords etc.
