Sixline Wrasse eating coral

Anyone ever have a sixline eat corals? I have one that seems to have taken a liking to a birdsnest in my tank. He is definitely eating the polyps. I sat and watch him clean off a small area today. I can't find any bugs or anything on it that he would be eating either. Guess its time for him to go back to the store.

Weird, mine leaves everything alone. He worked at a new addition pretty closely a few weeks back, but I assumed I tracked something in (yeah, I skipped the dip :( ).

Interesting, mine is the prime suspect in the death of an Acro crab because of his subsequent repeated searches of the same coral (a Stylopora). Also, it definitely steals food from the coral and hunts them, though I have no damage and believe I am pest-free.

Are you sure the coral is 100% healthy and pest-free? Much can be learned from the behavoir of our fish and the appearance of our corals. Having said that, anything is possible and good luck.

Get well soon Sid, we all eagerly await your next feat of greatness.

POSITIVE ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING

I have looked the coral over and can't find any pests. I don't see a continual methodic loss of tissue and polyps on the coral just lots of "picked" spots. When I have noticed new bare spots on the coral it is the same day I notice the wrasse hanging around the coral and picking at it heavily.

Yes I had the same thing happen to me, also with a birdsnest. the same 6 line wrasse that went crazy on my fish. Never again again...pain in a arsh to catch.

Yes, he has started to be a PITA to my other fish as well. Luckily they are all well established and seem to tell him to take a hike when he tried to mess with them. I believe I will start trying to catch him and get him out. I have been wishing I had his "space" in the tank for a different fish anyway. I just told myself I wouldn't get rid of him unless he was causing trouble and now he is.

I have a 6line with a birdsnest and never had a single problem It might be a feeding issue. Might it be a hunger issues? I have never heard of 6 lines doing anything like that. I could see it eating bugs and such off of it but a full on attack thats strange.
