enviro. how bout a pic. would like to see your wennera. dbr

take a look at roys list wich is stickied at the top of this forum, that my provide answer to some of your questions. :)

roys list is great. its just that I wanted to hear from reefers
that have a wennera at home for the past 3 or more years.
how do they look?act?picts? ect. tbs sends out alot of l/r.
somewhere out there has to be another wennera at some
reefers home. share info. just for fun dbr

I have a Wennera from TBS. He is in his own 20 gal. kingdom, presently being shared with a few red leg hermits, some turbos, and an emerald crab. He has taken out some of the turbos... which was to my surprise, b/c he isn't all that big, and has killed off about 3 of the 8 red legs. He isn't all that social, but here and there you can see his head sticking out of one of his many homes. He will eat out of my hand, and is very gentle! He loves mysis shrimp and silver sides, and clicks really loud when he wants some food and doesn't feel like hunting!! All in all, he is entertaining, and I'm more like a servant to him, right tim?

hey 30mini how big is not that big? is tim a bright green or
some other color? yes resistance is fauteuil. I serve and obey.
thanks for the info. dbr

My mantis, not Tim, is actually the reddish brownish color that you can get in the N.Wenns. The thing that I liked about TBS is that they asked me what color I wanted. They have both the green and red ones there. I would have to say that he is about 1.5" maybe closer to 1.75". About half his full size.

Tim is DensityMan's ruler. Look at the "Tim the Supermantis" thread on the top of the forum.

the mantis that came with the tbs l/r I got started red/brown than changed to bright green. rich and tbs are the best.
you think they get about 4 inches? so.... any name for your
mantis? capt. kaoz just dug 3 tunnels through a rock about
the size of a softball. guess its been watching the home chan.
with me. thanks 30mini dbr

Tim isn't a N. wennerae, btw, he's a G. smithii.

I had a N. wennerae for about 4 months (Lo Pan), before he died in a tragic accidental filter unplug/overfeeding of a Sun Coral incident.
He was very active and interactive, taking a great interest in both myself, as well as my cats, never too scared to throw out a threat gesture and let everyone know who was boss. He did once hide from a big ghost shrimp, however...odd, that.

Doesn't sound any stranger than my 50 pound dog being terrified of my pet rat, while chasing after any rodents found outdoors. I might order a wennera from TBS, just waiting for my tank to cycle right now.

My mantis is still the reddish color, and i'm thinking he will stay that color. i don't have him under very high spectrum lighting, and I've heard that is what will usually change their color from red to green. I still don't really have a name for him yet, but my fiancee calls him manty... i tell her we need a better name, but she refuses to think of another. Go figure! He is very interactive, especailly when I get a fresh batch of hermits and snails for him!! If you get them at the right time, the minute you drop them in you can see "manty" come right up, check on out, then another, then another, then go back home. Pretty odd... but about 10 minutes later... POP!! There goes one!

My mantis has not sufaced since placing it in her tank. She had orange eggs attached to her underside.. so I assume it is a girl. I've noticed a few empty cerith shells but no load popoing noises and I have only seen her once in 3 weeks and I actually saw movemnet not her. I miss her :( I want her to be more interactive.
